The Frames started life in the
mid to late 90s, out of a weekly social/jam session at Rich Bitch studios in
Birmingham. In fairly short order, a
giggable set evolved, and so occasional live performances were given, on a
fairly ad-hoc basis. The enthusiastic
audience reactions and inevitable re-bookings soon led to the Zimmermen, then
more latterly Pete Zimmer and the Frames, becoming a well known name on the
West Midlands pub/club rock and blues circuit. Over time, we re-visited our
back catalogues of songs we had written ourselves over the years, and
re-worked them before introducing them into the live set. Along with completely new material written
in recent years, the Frames now has a repertoire of around 20 original
tracks, in addition to the extensive list of classic and more obscure covers
from all the usual suspects. As often happens, people come
and go for various reasons, however, the current line-up boasts some of the
most accomplished musicians in the country.
Band members have played with the likes of Eric Clapton, Billy Idol
and Phil Collins, to drop a few household names, and the band has worked
alongside such well known acts as Stan Webb, 9 Below Zero, Trevor Burton and
Steve Gibbons. Still writing, still gigging,
